Visa and Residence Permit

Citizens of the EEA countries and Switzerland do not need a visa to live, work and study in Great Britain. The citizens of all other states must apply at the British embassy in their country for an 'entry clearance ' permit. This permit gives them the right to a stay for a period of six months .

The citizens of the United States and the Commonwealth countries are considered 'non-visa nationals ' and do not require visas. Residence Permit

A residence permit is not necessary for EU citizens, they may work and live in Great Britain for an unlimited period of time. Citizens of the United States and the Commonwealth countries need a residence permit if they wish to remain longer than six months in Great Britain or work there.

For the citizens of other countries the right of entry permit allows them to stay for a period of six months.
