To be part of a university you will have to state by the registration, that you have a health insurance. Students have special cheap fees until the 14th semester or until they are 30 years old.

International students have to be insured in Germany. The health insurance company will inform you about all you have to do. In some federal states students are allowed to stay with the insurance from their own countries. You will find some more information at the international office in your university and at the Studentenwerk.

Other Insurances

In Germany, next to the Health Insurance there is a Care Insurance. If you work, you have to pay more insurance like the one for the unemployed, the one for the pensions and the one in case of accident.
