Grading System

In Austria you will come across a following grading system:

1. very good - 100-96% max. no. of points
2. good - 95-81% max. no. of points
3. satisfactory - 80-66% max. no. of points
4. enough - 65-51% max. no. of points
5. not enough - < 51% max. no. of points

Academic recognition

Nostrifizierung

It is the recognition of a foreign study degree as equivalent with an Austrian one. The Nostrifizierung procedures are carried out by a competent organ or at a given University of Applied Science. The Nostrifizierung can be applied for at any university at which a comparable study program is in offer. In most cases there are many universities which can be taken into account.

Necessary documents:

• passport,

• certificate stating the status of the foreign university

• detailed information about the past courses, e.g. plan of studies, certificates from the attended courses, students, record of study, seminar papers, degree certificates, etc.

• records concerning the degree and the process of its awarding

• specification about the target occupation

Foreign documents have to be presented in the original (or legalized copies) and have to be legalized.
Before applying, it's advisable to contact the university to clear up any possible doubts.

The fee for the Nostrifizierung amounts now to Euro 150 and has to be paid in advance. As during this process you'll have a special students status, you'll also need to pay the university fees.
